Game Design

                                        Making a game

Hello
Welcome to my blog.
Making a video game is a long and difficult process but before that the question has to be asked what is a game? That question has a lot of different answers but I would say my definition is an activity that you do for fun.  I looked over some college readings about making games I was able to learn more about making a game.
There’s a lot of rules in making a game. Something that should be in a game is an “ends and means” so there should be objective, an outcome, and a set of rules to get there. A game should also have players making decisions.  There are a lot more rules that go into making a game.
There’s lots of different  types of games like:
Puzzles/mind games, games that make involve you figuring out problems and puzzles like a crossword or portal.
Role-playing games, this should be a game where you are in a story but are the main character and you get to make decisions in the game that effect the story games like Dungeons and Dragons and Skyrim.
There is lots more different types of games but those were some examples.
I had look through some additional readings and I was able to find out more opinion  on what game is. One them was “what is a game” by Wolfgang Kramer http://www.thegamesjournal.com/articles/WhatIsaGame.shtml. His definition of a game is that anything that brings you pleasure is a game.  Another one is “Don’t be a vidiot” by Greg Costokyan http://www.costik.com/vidiot.html. which he talks about how computer game designers can learn from non- Electronic games. The other reading I saw was called “So you’re going to make a game very first time” by Lewis Pulsipher https://gamasutra.com/blogs/LewisPulsipher/20110516/7453/So_Youre_Going_To_Make_A_Game_For_The_Very_First_Time.phpWhere he gives you seven tips on how to make a game. Like you should make a game based on a game you know.

Overall these readings gave an insight on what a game is and some of the process in making one.
